Artist Sara Fort created this pen and ink drawing to illustrate the concept of identity, who we were vs. who we see in the mirror now, in the face of trauma through the personal lens of returning after a severe TBI. It’s one of those things that more people manage than we realize but isn’t discussed often. This piece is about making the invisible, more visible. Most people fight a battle at certain points in their life that few see, believe or understand. Compassion is key and there’s a beauty in rising above it. There is a strength in your scars and you don’t need others to understand it to be real. You don’t need permission to move on.
