San Luis Potosí remains relatively undiscovered by most travelers from the US which presents unique challenges for solo adventurers. With limited transportation options to certain areas and few English speakers, navigating this state can be a bit daunting for non-natives. However, this untouched quality also preserves its authentic charm, offering a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in a genuine cultural experience. We encourage our guests to approach their visit with open minds and hearts, embracing the differences and reveling in the safe and captivating environment that awaits. You will have a guide with you at every step to assist with translation and the navigation from hotels to activities and everything in between. While San Luis Potosí is considered a safe destination for travelers, everyone should use caution and common sense, as when traveling anywhere that you’re not familiar. Travel lightly, both in spirit and footprint, as we strive to preserve the integrity of this remarkable destination.

Given the scarcity of tours in this captivating region, none quite match the unique experience we aim to offer. It’s this void that inspired us to choose this location as the perfect starting point for our Tour Operation. We will be providing a service that we have personally been unable to find elsewhere and we are excited to share this region with folks that don’t speak Spanish but want to discover something new.

*Must be able to be on your feet for the majority of the day, to walk to restaurants or museums on foot, and through natural spaces as well as to do low-impact water sports.

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive in San Luis Potosí City This city is the capital and the most populous of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí, and is steeped in history and tradition, with stunning art and architecture. There, we will stay in a hotel chosen for it’s location above anything else, but also for your comfort and its professional staff. We will use this as a  jumping-off point to explore the city. A guide with Life is More will be there all day for those that arrive early, but we will designate a meeting point in the afternoon for when the tour will begin. We will enjoy dinner together as a group where we will explore some local fare, introduce ourselves, and discuss our plans for the week. 

Day 2-3. Explore San Luis Potosí City We will spend our second day and first half of the third going to museums, exploring the charming plazas, eating street food and generally immersing ourselves in what this city is all about. In the early afternoon of the fourth day, after lunch, we will check out of the hotel and take a van together to our next destination, Ciudad Valles. There, we will be renting an entire small hotel in the heart of town for our duration here. The hotel is very secure with locked gate surrounding the property, AC, cable TV, and private bathroom in each room, full kitchen and a beautiful little outdoor area with pool and small bar(please drink responsibly).

Day 4. Whitewater rafting in the Tampaón River For our first day in Ciudad Valles, we will be picked up from the hotel at 9am by a really professional and friendly accredited tour company to take us to whitewater raft in the Tampaón river. With its stunningly crystalline blue water and dramatic limestone canyon walls, the Tampaón River offers an unforgettable setting for many water activities. After returning to the hotel, we will conclude the day with traditional dinner cooked by a local chef in our hotel kitchen and you’re welcome to take advantage of the outdoor space with pool.

Day 5. Explore el Puente de Dios(the bridge of God) and the Hacienda Gómez (7 beautiful waterfalls) in Tamasopo We will start our day with breakfast before heading out at 9 for that day’s waterfall-filled tour. We will have lunch at a local restaurant during the tour and will conclude with a tasty traditional meal made back at the house. 

Day 6 Enjoy Standup Paddle at Meco waterfall This day will follow the pattern of a 9am start to be surrounded by stunning nature but today will be through a standup paddle tour. We will conclude the tour with dinner and free-time at night to spend how you wish.

Day 7 Discover the fascinating beauty of Las Pozas, Edward James’ Surrealist Garden in Xilitla After the surrealist garden tour, we will get to know Mexico’s Pueblo Mágico (magic town), Xilitla. Xilitla is extremely quirky and artistic, with a beautiful local brewery, labyrinth filled with art, and more.

Day 8 Head back to San Luis Potosí city for free time until you fly out.
